Spring 2009 saw Jesse follow up his success with 2008's 'Night, Mother by directing Ariel Dorfman's Death and the Maiden for Altera Vitae Productions. The company is aimed at giving opportunities to people at various stages in their lives and careers through workshops and direct theatre production experience.
Marsha Norman's 'Night, Mother is possibly her best-known play. It won the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama for its tight, poignant writing. It premiered at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Mass, With Anne Pitoniak playing Thelma and Kathy Bates as Jessie. This production moved to broadway, where it opened at the John Golden Theatre on 31 March, 1983. It was nominated for four Tony awards.
